At one point India was an island a hundred million years ago back in the dinosaur days it broke off from the supercontinent Gondwanaland and it moved North eventually crashing into Asia and because of this collision that is why we have the Himalayan mountains which are the youngest but also the biggest Mountains in India. India was ruled by many nations over a period. India got Independence from British rule in 1947 and became a democratic country. There are many amazing facts about India. 1.Indian Population

India has the 2nd largest population in the world after China. The population of India currently sits at 1.2 billion people. The population of India is steadily growing and future estimates are that it will cross China in the next 5 to 10 years and will become the largest population in the world. The population of India makes up 17.5% of the world's total population. According to some predictions in 2050 the population of India will grow up to 1.6 billion people.
